National “Italian Food” Day

I suppose it’s fitting that today is both National Italian Food Day and National Tortellini Day, because pasta and cheese is about as Italian as one can get. To celebrate National Italian Food Day, you can choose from so many things. Pasta and gravy/sauce (call it what you want), pizza, antipasto, meatballs, sausage, prosciutto, fish, tiramisu, cannoli, lasagna, stuffed shells, manicotti, baked ziti, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigianaโ€ฆthe list goes on and on. And it’s all. so. good.

Today was basically my calling because being Italian, there’s nothing I love more than Italian food. With so many choices, I decided to keep it simple, and delicious of course. How about some homemade pizza? With my mom’s tomato sauce, some fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil, a margherita pizza was just what I needed.
